We're recruiting for a Range Warden to join a small team near Durness, supporting the day-to-day operation of one of the UK's most unique military training environments. From maintaining facilities and operating boats to supporting live firing exercises, this is a varied, hands-on position where no two days are the same.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the safe operation of the live firing range and training area.
- Carrying out housekeeping duties across operational buildings and accommodation facilities.
- Completing grounds maintenance, grass cutting, fencing repairs and general upkeep.
- Operating boats, quad bikes and other site equipment (training provided).
- Monitoring range activity using radar equipment (training provided).
- Completing planned maintenance checks and logging work orders using internal systems.
What We're Looking For
- Practical, hands-on individual who enjoys a varied role.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Basic IT skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Flexible approach to working hours when operational requirements change.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
You Gain Bonus Points For
- Previous military or defence sector experience.
- Experience operating boats, quad bikes or rural plant machinery.
- Facilities, maintenance, estates or groundskeeping experience.
What's on Offer?
- Up to £14.50 per hour, depending on experience.
- 35-hour working week.
- Choice of paid overtime or time off in lieu.
- 40 days annual leave, including bank holidays.
- Full training provided including on specialist equipment and systems.
- Predominantly Monday to Friday, with only occasional weekend working.
Due to the remote location of the site, applicants should have access to reliable transport or live within a reasonable commuting distance.
