Scotland’s aquaculture sector is continuing to grow, and with new sea sites now established on the Isle of Skye, we have an opportunity for a candidate who want a hands‑on, outdoor career in sustainable fish farming and marine operations.
We’re supporting our client as they expand their teams in Uig and Dunvegan, and we’re looking for a practical, reliable individual who enjoys working on the water and being part of a close‑knit crew.
About the role
As a Husbandry Technician, you’ll play a key part in the daily care and welfare of salmon stock at sea. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you’ll support feeding routines, monitor fish health and contribute to the smooth running of site operations across these new Skye locations.
What you’ll be doing
- Feeding and monitoring fish appetite
- Operating manual and automatic feeding systems
- Checking nets, removing mortalities and recording cause of death
- Supporting grading, splitting and treatment operations
- Maintaining walkways and equipment to a safe standard
- Upholding fish welfare and environmental practices
- Following health & safety protocols
- Supporting junior staff where required
- Participating in the weekend rota
Who we’re looking for
You don’t need aquaculture experience — just a strong work ethic, good attention to detail and a willingness to learn. We welcome applicants from farming, production, outdoor work or other practical backgrounds.
- ML5 medical and industry certifications provided
- Entry‑level candidates welcome via temp‑to‑perm route (£14.53/hour based on 37.5 hours/week equivalent)
- Permanent contracts available for those with relevant experience
Pay & perks
- Salary: £28,325–£30,832 depending on experience
- Overtime: x1.5 weekdays after 37.5 hours / x1.75 weekends
