A well‑established Scottish aquaculture business is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead all engineering activity across its Uist operations. This is a leadership role within a values‑driven organisation known for responsible farming, high‑quality production and strong environmental standards.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Maintaining and repairing all operational equipment across seawater sites, vessels, vehicles and lifting systems, ensuring compliance with company, MCA and Health & Safety standards.
- Planning, budgeting and cost control, including developing efficiencies, managing essential procurement and supporting major equipment purchases.
- Leading and developing the engineering team sized at 1.5FTE, including recruitment, training, appraisals, holiday planning and ensuring appropriate out‑of‑hours cover.
- Ensuring environmental and fish‑welfare compliance, maintaining equipment to protect stock health, upholding hygiene protocols and meeting all EMS and consent requirements.
- Driving safe working practices, ensuring all equipment, workshops and operations meet Health & Safety standards and addressing any non‑conformances.
- Collaborating across departments, working closely with production, biology, environmental management and hatchery teams to support smooth and efficient site operations.
You’ll also contribute to engineering projects, maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, ensure accurate task recording, and represent the organisation professionally at all times.
